There are no listing fees, no subscription to teach here, and no hidden charges. Students pay the rate you set. Sleight School takes a flat 20% to cover the platform, payment processing, recording & hosting, student acquisition, and support.

How do I apply?
Click "Apply to Teach" below and fill out the short application — background, specialty, a couple links to your performing or teaching work, and a sentence or two about why you want to teach. We review every application personally and usually get back within a week.
Do I need to be famous or have TV credits?
No. We care about the quality of the work and your ability to teach it. Plenty of our tutors are working magicians without household names — what they have in common is real technique, a clear specialty, and patience with students.
How much can I earn?
That's up to you. You set your own hourly rate. Tutors on the platform charge anywhere from around $60 to $200+ per hour depending on experience, specialty, and demand. You keep 80% of whatever you charge. If you teach six hour-long lessons a week at $120/hr, that's around $2,300/mo in your pocket.
Can I set my own rate?
Yes — your rate, your call. You can change it at any time. We'll share guidance based on your experience and what comparable tutors charge, but the number is always yours.
How and when do I get paid?
Payouts run weekly to your bank account or PayPal via our payment processor. Earnings are visible in your Tutor Dashboard in real time, so you always know where you stand.
What happens if a student cancels or no-shows?
Our standard policy requires 24 hours notice to cancel. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged to the student at the standard rate, and you're paid as if the lesson had happened. You're never out of pocket for a student's schedule changes.
How much time do I have to commit?
None required. Open as little or as much availability as you like. Some tutors teach a single hour a week; others teach ten. You can close your calendar at any time — for a tour, a holiday, or just a breather.
Can I choose the student level I'll accept?
Yes. On your profile you mark the levels you'll teach — Newbie, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced — and students at other levels simply can't book you. Great for tutors who only want to work with serious, advanced students.
Do lessons get recorded?
Yes. Every session is recorded and shared with the student for review after the lesson. You keep a copy in your Tutor Dashboard. Recordings are private to you and the student.
Can I sell my existing tutorials or DVDs here too?
Absolutely. The Sleight School Shop is open to our tutors. Upload your own downloads, tutorials, or courses, and earn from them alongside your live lessons. Same 80/20 split.
What equipment do I need?
A decent webcam, good lighting, a quiet space, and a steady internet connection. If you want to go further, an overhead cam for close-up work is ideal — but not required to get started.
Is there any cost to join?
None. There's no subscription, no listing fee, nothing to pay up front. The platform only earns when you do.
