Steve’s obsession with magic began as a child growing up outside of Philadelphia. After discovering a Brother John Hamman tape through his Genii Magazine subscription at age 15, his casual interest blossomed into a lifelong passion. 

Over the years, Steve also became deeply influenced by the legendary Edward Marlo and Jon Racherbaumer, who became a personal mentor to Steve. Today, Steve is considered one of the foremost scholars on Marlo’s work. He has dedicated countless hours to preserving and sharing unpublished Marlo material in his Output magazine, including his work editing the expanded edition of The Olram File.

In the broader magic community, Steve is perhaps best known for his unparalleled expertise in false shuffles. He spent over two decades researching, refining, and perfecting his technique, culminating in his highly acclaimed Z. DVD and his Beyond the Z project. His systematic approach to the Zarrow Shuffle has been hailed as the definitive work on the subject, earning him a reputation for having some of the most deceptive and natural card handling in the world. As Jack Carpenter noted, Steve's detailed approach is a "must-have for all serious card men," and Allan Ackerman called his handling "the most natural and deceptive I've seen in 40 years."
